A big shout out to drinkwire.liquor.com for featuring HIDE’s light, herbaceous and savory cocktails Winner Winner! And, a huge thank you to Melissa Moreno who wrote and contributed the article!
Savory Cocktails Have Unique Flavors
Savory can mean different things to different people, but the word normally refers to a richly flavorful food or drink that lacks sweetness. When referring to savory cocktails, one might mean drinks that lack sweetness altogether, or one might mean drinks in which any sweet elements take a back seat to other flavors. These other flavors can include vegetal, herbal, nutty, smoky, meaty, or umami-rich notes. In the case of the Winner, Winner umami-rich notes give the cocktail its “savory cred.”
The ingredients used to craft HIDE’s cocktail masterpiece, Winner Winner include:
- Gin
- Fresh chicken stock
- Simple syrup
- Clarified lemon juice.
How is the Winner Winner cocktail prepared?
- The ingredients are poured into a shaker, with perfect balance.
- The ingredients are then shaken over ice, and double filtered into a chilled coupe glass.
- To finish off the cocktail it is garnished with two small sprigs of fresh thyme harvested from HIDE’s hydroponic herb garden, the only fresh herb garden cultivated by any of the Deep Ellum Bars.
Winner Winner is Sure to Please
Here is what Melissa had to say about the Winner Winner that graces HIDE’s winter cocktail menu:
“The cocktail is light and herbaceous. The aroma of fresh thyme hovers softly over the palate as a briny acidity makes itself known soon after the first sip. The cocktail blossoms as it opens to its fresh lemon oils. It finishes crisply at first, only to come alive once more moments later with the real warmth of the finish; a rounded, yet mild flavor from the briny stock.”
So, next time you find yourself in Deep Ellum and you’re looking for an exceptional cocktail, stop in and try the Winner, Winner for yourself. We believe you will be glad you did!
Cheers!
